Corgis History & CKC Standards
In 1933, the Duke of York (King George VI) bought a Pembroke Corgi for his daughters Elizabeth and Margaret. Later a male was added and its decendants are now pets of the Royal Family.
The Pembroke Corgi is more foxy in appearance, born tailess or has it docked and is smaller than the Cardigan Corgi. In 1934 the Pembroke and Cardigans were officially recognized as two separate breeds.
